ACT 2 - SCENE 6
 *

NEAR THE TROJAN ASTEROIDS, APPROACHING JUPITER
(Terrance is in conference with Venus and Mars, The Asteroid sisters sight Luna.)

Open Space

CERES
Look! Luna has escaped!

PALLAS
Where? I do not see her. The dawn-light is hurting my eyes.

CERES
Follow me!

LUNA
Over here!

(Luna meets the Asteroid sisters and there is rejoicing.)

VESTA
We are so glad to see you!

LUNA
And I you, but I am in desperate need of your help to stop this war! And Galileo, if only he were here to advise us. He knows about fighting.

VESTA
Look! There he is!

LUNA
Galileo! Here!

GALILEO
Luna! You are a picture of loveliness.

LUNA
I must see Terrance immediately to stop this war. Will you help me.

GALILEO
Yes, of course. Come with me.

Quickly now. This night will soon be ending.

(Galileo leads her to Terrance.)

LUNA
Terrance, my love.

TERRANCE
Luna... Oh, Luna. I have wanted to be with you for so long. Now that we are together, I cannot find the words.

When I found out that you were gone I was heart-broken. I had almost given up hope of seeing you again. Are you hurt? Tell me what he did to you. I will repay him in kind.

LUNA
All you need to know is that it was a mistake. We are free to go now!

TERRANCE
The Planet Council has told me of Lord Jupiter's evil deeds. We will be going no where until this affair has been settled. Did you know that he also stole the plutonium?

LUNA
Yes, and he will return it! Now let us go.

TERRANCE
I have no idea what has gotten into you, but you wait until I have dispatched this devil!

LUNA
No! You wait! You know not what you do!

TERRANCE
I think I do! My plan is justified! His majesty, King Lord Jupiter, will not get away with kidnapping you and attempting to destroy Mother. That you have escaped in such a timely manner is pure luck. Now stand aside.

LUNA
Terrance, I have not, in fact, escaped, but have come to you of my own free will. There have been many misunderstandings, now, and in the past which can easily be cleared up. This war is completely unnecessary.

TERRANCE
Oh, come now, Luna!

LUNA
Have you not heard a word I have said? Do you never listen to me?

TERRANCE
Out of my way. I have some unfinished business.

(to Jupiter)

Hey, King boy! Get over here!

EUROPA
(to Jupiter) I thought Luna was going to clear this up? Leave it to an inner planet to muck it up.

JUPITER
I will remain calm and speak to him in a civil tone.

TERRANCE
Hey Spot! Here boy...(whistling)

JUPITER
I hate that name! Over here Mortal! Dirtbag! Primordial muck!

TERRANCE
I'm getting tired of the way,
You and yours are treating me and my friends.
It's one straw too many,
When you find you finally reach the end.
You can say you're sorry now,
You can even try to take it all back.
But it's one straw too many,
So now I'm going to break your back!

CHORUS
Kill them all!
Kill them all!
Kill them all!
Kill them all!

JUPITER
You think that your looks and your charm,
Are going to pull you through?
Maybe Mommie's money and a car,
Got you dates in school.
Well, no one is going to care,
If they ever look at you anymore.
I am going to take you by the throat,
And stomp you through the cracks in the floor!

CHORUS
Kill them all!
Kill them all!
Kill them all!
Kill them all!

(A violent space-saber battle ensues all of Jupiter's kingdom and the Planet Realm are engaged, Luna and the Asteroid Sisters attempt to separate the combatants.)

LUNA
(in a loud voice) Wait! Stop! You cannot fight!

JUPITER
I am very sorry Luna. You have tried your best, but I must vanquish this planetary parasite.

TERRANCE
Luna, stay out of this. I am doing this for you. He will not harm you again. He is finished, but his addled brain does not know it yet!

LUNA
You must not fight! You will be killing one of your own family!

TERRANCE
Absurd! If I looked anything like this guy I would have killed myself the first time I looked in a mirror.

JUPITER
Anyone that would so casually defile his own home could never be a relative of mine!

TERRANCE
Fat-so!

JUPITER
Crawlieee!

LUNA
Jupiter, if you kill Terrance you will be killing your own son!

TERRANCE
What?!

JUPITER
That is impossible! I have no children!

LUNA
Jupiter, if you marry Saturn then Terrance will be your son.

JUPITER
No!

TERRANCE
Never!

(The other participants have ceased fighting, but Jupiter and Terrance have re-engaged in their brawling.)

LUNA
Stop it! STOP IT!

(They stop reluctantly.)

Listen and if you do not see truth then you can both bash your brains out. Now listen to me closely.

Terrance, you... hmm... you were Mother Earth's last child with Halley before she kicked him out. Right?

TERRANCE
Yes...

LUNA
And... and Halley was divorced from Mother Earth and was later remarried to... Saturn. That would make Terrance Saturn's... uh... step- son. Is that right Saturn?

SATURN
Yes, Terrance is my step-son from my marriage to Halley. But how...

LUNA
So Lord Jupiter, when... if... you marry Saturn, if she still wants you after all this, then Terrance would be your... your step-son! By marriage! Yes! That would be right; step-son by marriage. Now do you see why this must end? Think for a moment. You will be father and son!

If you are not now satisfied... if you cannot endure a life without this hatred and violence... then go ahead and kill each other! Father and son! Keep it in the family!

JUPITER
Does she jest Saturn? He is your son?... My son?

SATURN
Yes. Soon to be your son if you still want me?

TERRANCE
Daddy..?

JUPITER
My son! (Jupiter hugs Terrance) ... Saturn...(Jupiter approaches Saturn and after a hug and kiss goes to one knee, taking her hand) will you... marry me?

SATURN
Yes, oh yes!

(Luna crosses one arm beneath her breasts, cradling her other elbow. With thumb and forefinger against her chin she slowly shakes her head in amazement.)

(Jupiter rises and taking Saturn in his arms addresses the congregation)

JUPITER
Hear ye all! I, King Lord Jupiter, proclaim a grand holiday to celebrate the wedding of my beloved bride to her humble husband. Rejoice with us now in a glorious ceremony.
